About ...
Ariel is a second year Masters student in the UW Architecture department. His driving interest is exploring the coexistence of traditional craft and design values, and the modern, technology driven urban experience.
This coexistence has implications in two areas close to Ariel's heart: Use of natural resources, and computing as a design tool. His work in the Design Machine Group involves the use of hands and gesture for 3d modeling, thus integrating more closely elements of craft and workmanship in technological design.
He is also co-chair of the student-run Green Design organization which helps raise conservation related issues among design students.
When Ariel isn't busy with school or research, he heads outside to enjoy hiking, skiing, road biking, and backpacking; He most avidly pursues rock climbing and mountaineering. A high quantity and quality of both is available around Seattle.
