About ...

Carlos Henrique joined the DMG in autumn 2014. He is an architect, educated in Brazil, who has been working with design and construction of houses in Rio de Janeiro.

His experience within the architectural practice is the foundation for many questions he has: What is the future of architecture? How will the relationship between design and construction evolve? As a student of Design Computing, he wants to take his understanding to a higher level, so that he can collaborate to construct adequate technological responses to the architectural needs of the future.

In his first year at UW Carlos Henrique developed an interest in the mutability of architecture. As a result, he focused his thesis work on the development of robotic architectural elements.

In autumn 2015 Carlos began a PhD program in architectural robotics at Clemson, and then shifted (along with his supervisor) to Cornell, but continued to work on his MS thesis (under supervision of Brian R Johnson) which he completed in Winter quarter 2017.
