About ...

Nicole Peterson joined the DMG and MS.dc program in Autumn 2013. Her primary research interest is computational lighting design, especially annual daylight and glare analysis, including their respective emerging metrics, and intends to further explore these areas with both project work and research this summer.

She also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Integrated Design Lab, consulting primarily on lighting and daylighting projects, where she assesses and advises on overall illumination and distribution, glare risk, integration with electric lighting and potential energy savings, and facade and shading optimization.

She earned Bachelor's degrees from Penn State in Mechanical Engineering, Spanish, and International Studies. After graduation, she worked for two and a half years in New York City as an environmental designer at Atelier Ten, where she focused on daylight design, facade optimization, and envelope analysis.

Nicole graduated from the UW in Spring, 2015. Her thesis chair was Mehlika Inanici. She has since been hired by Thornton Tomasetti to work out of their Chicago office on façade engineering and sustainability.
