Simulation & Analysis > Migrant Housing

About

In the summer of 1998 planners in eastern Washington state were looking for a means of rapidly deploying better housing for the state's migrant worker community. They sought help from the UW to create a visual representation of one proposed scheme, including unit layouts and site configuration, which would readily communicate the plans to a wide audience. A 3D model was built and animations generated in an effort to communicate both site issues and the interior layouts of the proposed units.

Using dynamic visual effects such as the animated fly-through and dissolving walls allowed viewers to quickly grasp the proposal when it was shown to the Governor and others. Further design development resulted.
