Form Finding, Force and Function: Mass-Spring Simulation for a Thin Shell Concrete Trolley Barn

- Abstract
Simulation, traditionally used as an evaluative tool, can also be part of a design's generation. Using a waterfront trolley barn as a test case this project examines digital physics simulation as a shell form finding tool. The development of a form finding method using open source tools will be discussed, and the implications of this workflow for design will be critically evaluated. - Author: Mike Weller
